Jean-Claude Benéteau founded Berry Services in 1998.
In just a few years, the SME has become an established logistics provider to the ready-to-wear sector.
“Upstream work carried out before garments of clothing are put out on the shelves—labelling, ironing, tag insertion, alterations, placing garments on hangers, inspection and packaging—constitutes our core business. We have gone one step further by offering additional services such as goods collection, storage and delivery to the end customer,” explains the company’s director.
Six million items are processed each year.
To get to this point, the company has had to make structural changes, in terms of the its premises (4,500 m² in total), production, business policy and management structure. “We employ some forty members of staff but have enough space to accommodate around a hundred, and the size of the workforce can reach this number during peak periods.”
The biggest challenge, which the company invariably overcomes, lies in complying with the specifications imposed by each customer (form of packaging, positioning of labels, type of cardboard, etc.), mostly from large retail chains, franchise chains and high-end shops.
The company is looking at other avenues for development. “We already manage some sales via the internet. In the coming years, we could become an e-commerce platform.” In the meantime, the whole team is proud to have received the 2005 Gazelle prize in May 2006 for the company that has seen the strongest growth, with 34% growth for two consecutive years.
