Whilst trying out one of a batch of 5,000 dresses on a dummy, a ready-to-wear brand’s quality control department found that they had been badly made: the dresses’ hemlines were completely uneven and totally asymmetrical.
The brand presented the problem to Berry Services who, after analysing the problem and doing some tests, came up with a solution.
Berry Services collected all of the 5,000 dresses from the brand’s warehouse and then used a French curve to trace the new hemlines, trimmed the hemlines and finished them with an overcast hem.
Following Berry Services’ intervention, the dresses’ hemlines were certainly a little shorter, but they were now perfectly regular and symmetrical. The dresses could be put on sale at the full price.
Such interventions, which represent over 800 hours’ work, can only be carried out by qualified staff from the ready-to-wear clothing industry.
