When an order arrived at a high-end French footwear brand’s warehouses, its quality control department found that the batch of 1,500 pairs of shoes had been given the wrong insoles. Since the shoes could not be sold as they were (the insoles stained the feet when worn), changing the insoles was the only solution that would rescue the items.
The brand turned to Berry Services.
Berry Services collected the 1,500 pairs of shoes from the warehouse and proceeded to change their insoles. The service provided by Berry Services consisted in delicately removing the existing insole (taking care not to tear or damage the body of the shoe), applying glue to the new insoles, positioning the new insoles inside the shoes and applying strong pressure to ensure proper adhesion. The main difficulty lay in ensuring that the correct amount of glue was used, and that it was spread across the insole in such a way as to avoid leaving traces on the shoe.
Such operations, which represent over 500 hours’ work, require great dexterity and meticulousness — and a great deal of patience — from the operators.
