Sorting out knickers

An importer of textile goods’ order for 6,000 packs of 6 children's knickers was rejected by the quality department of a ready-to-wear retailer. A non-acceptable number of items inspected had manufacturing defects such as holes in the seams.

The manufacturer called on Berry Services to inspect and sort its items.

Berry Services collected the goods from the retailer’s warehouse and inspected every one of the 36,000 pairs of knickers in the order. The faulty items were identified and set aside and the non-faulty items were repackaged in compliant packs and delivered to the retailer's warehouse.

This service that Berry Services had committed to carry out in less than a week, under penalty of cancellation of the order by the retailer, required 450 hours of work by 15 experienced garment inspectors.
